Greetings,
The Port Ludlow Yacht Club (PLYC) offers a vibrant community for boating enthusiasts and social members alike. The club is run completely by its volunteer members. Founded in 1972, PLYC boasts a membership of approximately 250 individuals. Located strategically in the heart of Washington’s prime cruising areas, PLYC provides easy access to Puget Sound, Hood Canal, the San Juan Islands, Victoria, and the Canadian Gulf Islands. As a member you will have reciprocal access to moorage facilities at over 100 yacht clubs from Alaska to California.
Our active cruising schedule begins in April with our popular “Wake-up Cruise” down Hood Canal and ends in December with a festive holiday cruise to Seattle’s Bell Harbor. Most cruises accommodate both power and sail boats. If you are not a boater, many of the cruises offer a “land-cruiser” option where you may drive to the destinations or hitch a ride on a member’s boat.
Boat ownership is not a requirement for membership, making PLYC’s “Wreck Room” an excellent social hub for the Port Ludlow community. The Wreck Room is open year-round on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Events are planned and arranged by our members and include catered meals, potlucks, “member chef” meals, fun activities, and special holiday functions. Our full bar is open during these events.
In the spring, we host our annual Training Day focusing on emerging technology, safety, and current issues of interest to the boating community. May brings our Opening Day of the boating season, celebrated with all the traditional pomp and circumstance. We all look forward to the December Change of Watch gala, our semi-formal event to honor the incoming Commodore and Board.
Whether you are a seasoned sailor, a casual boater, or simply looking to join a welcoming community, PLYC offers something for everyone.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover!”

Club Cruises
PLYC’s fleet captain arranges cruises from April to October, plus a holiday cruise in December. In addition to the cruises, which travel to destinations all over Puget Sound and into Canada, we have an active sailing program. One of the advantages of being a member of Port Ludlow Yacht Club is that there is help along the way. On our cruises, there will be members ready to catch your lines, and get you tied up. We have many experienced members who can help on maintenance issues, weather, and best route planning.
Reciprocal Moorage & Club Access
PLYC is one of thousands of yacht and sailing clubs worldwide. Being a member provides you with reciprocal mooring privileges at more than 100 clubs in the Northwest, and an entrée to other clubs anywhere by virtue of being a member. Boaters are a welcoming group, and PLYC provides reciprocal moorage and a personal welcome to boaters at our dock in the Port Ludlow Marina.
Boater Training
PLYC holds an annual Training Day in April, Marine Exchanges throughout the year, plus ongoing training events during club cruises. Members also take advantage of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and U.S. Power Squadron training. If you need training, PLYC members will provide it. We take boating seriously, striving to make it safe and fun for everyone.
Wreck Room
Picture a relaxing private club atmosphere where you can spend time with friends, meet new ones, and your guests are always welcome. It is a club that is open twice a week with good food, a great bar, and run completely by members who volunteer their time. Enjoy a large deck in the summer and a warm and friendly atmosphere no matter the season.

Women's Group
The Women’s Group is open to all women in the club. In addition to learning about the interests and talents of our PLYC women and forming lasting friendships, we encourage women to join the board and bring their leadership skills to benefit the club. We are aware that we live in a diverse community and embody the spirit of connection by paying it forward and giving back to the community in creative ways. If this description reflects your own spirit, join the PLYC.
Social Events
While many activities involve boating, PLYC also sponsors festive social events throughout the year. Favorites include our Opening Day celebrations, parties for the Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas, and our very popular annual Change of Watch gala where we honor our outgoing board and welcome the new one, award special member contributions, and dance the night away. Social events are held at the Wreck Room, the Bay or Beach Clubs, and other local venues.
